The Naples-On-The-Gulf was chartered as one of 7,700 clubs in 80 countries in 1975. Our motto is "Serving the Children of the World".


HISTORY of KIWANIS
Founded in 1915, Kiwanis International is a global organization of members dedicated to serving the children of the world.Kiwanis and its family of clubs, including:
  • Circle K International for university students
  • Key Club for students age 14-18
  • Builders Club for students age 11-14
  • Kiwanis Kids for students age 6-12
  • Aktion Club for adults living with disabilities
Kiwanis members dedicate more than 18 million service hours each year to strengthen communities and serve children. The Kiwanis International family comprises nearly 600,000 adult and youth members in 80 countries and geographic areas. Members of every age attend regular meetings, experience fellowship, raise funds for various causes and participate in service projects that help their communities. Members also make an impact throughout the world by participating in Kiwanis International’s Global Campaign for Children, The Eliminate Project: Kiwanis eliminating maternal and neonatal tetanus.Kiwanis International was founded in 1915 by a group of businessmen in Detroit, Michigan, USA. The organization was originally called the Supreme Lodge Benevolent Order of Brothers, but changed its name to Kiwanis a year later. The name "Kiwanis" was coined from an expression in an American Indian language of the Detroit area, "Nunc Kee-wanis," which means, "we trade." In 1920, the motto of Kiwanis became “We Build.” It remained the motto until 2005, when members voted to change it to “serving the children of the world.” In the early years, members focused on business networking but in 1919, the organization changed its focus to service—specifically service to children.Kiwanis became an international organization with the founding of the Kiwanis Club of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, in 1916. Kiwanis clubs formed in communities across the United States and Canada until the 1960s when worldwide expansion was approved. Today, Kiwanis clubs are helping children thrive, prosper and grow in nearly 80 nations and geographic locations.All people are welcome to participate in the Kiwanis movement of improving communities for children. In 1987, women were invited to join. In 2008, delegates approved a resolution that calls for Kiwanis clubs to celebrate and foster inclusiveness.

Additionally, online crowdfunding campaigns have become a powerful tool, reaching a wide audience and facilitating small donations that collectively make a significant impact.

Silent auctions, featuring unique items or experiences, offer an exciting and competitive way to raise funds. Educational workshops in areas like cooking or arts also serve as creative fundraising avenues, with the added benefit of skill development for participants.
